DIY CONSTELLATION TRINKET DISHES WITH AIR DRY CLAY

These trinket dishes with constellation art made with air dry clay is one of the coolest things I’ve created. I think I’m in love with air-dry clay. Oh I really am. You can make these and they’re super easy I assure you. Let’s do this!

Don’t laugh at the random splatter of color you see on my table. I assumed a little abstract art wouldn’t hurt my photos. And no, that’s not my toddler. Hah! I could blame it on him couldn’t I? Luckily, the trinket dishes don’t look so bad and I didn’t have to click all over again.

Materials required :-

Tear a small piece of air -dry clay and make it into a small ball.If your clay seems dry, just moisten it to make it kneadable again. Roll it out flat and cut off the excess to form a rough circle. Use the bottom side of a bowl to get a slightly curved shape.Allow it to dry for a while.Remove from the bowl and let dry for about 24 to 48 hours.

Please excuse my messy palette but I find them to be works of art. I hate cleaning them out because I love the way they look; in all its abstract glory. Anyhow back to the tutorial…Mix a really dark deep blue color and paint the inside of your dishes to form the constellation art. Dry brush around the edges so that it feels abstract.

Next use the metallic paint of your choice( I used bronze gouache) and paint the constellation art of your choice. I did the star signs Aries and Virgo and I also added a couple of small stars in the background.

Finally seal the dishes after the paint dries using a fixative spray. This step is optional. And that’s it. Your beautiful trinket dishes with constellation art is all ready.
