If you love decorating trees for Christmas, you’ll definitely be willing to try today’s tutorial out. Make your guests ask “you did that?” by learning how to create easy DIY paper Christmas ornaments. And like always it involves watercolor!
It’s amazing how differently people love to celebrate occasions. When we celebrate Eid, the house smells of Biryani,Henna and “Kheer”.Our neighbors love lighting up “diyas”on their doorstep for “Diwali”.And some of our friends love to decorate trees for “Christmas”.Which I really love too.It really is splendid to see a tree all lit up and bright! And I know a lot of you celebrate X-mas too. That’s why I decided that it would be a good idea to make DIY paper Christmas ornaments for this post.

Materials you’ll need for DIY paper christmas ornaments are:-
- Watercolor paints– Winsor and Newton Cotman in “permanent rose“
- Watercolor paper-preferably about 225 gsm
- Watercolor brush – I used the round no.2 “black velvet brush”
- Single round hole punch
- Scissors
- Twine-I used cotton twine. You can use any twine or string that you have at home.
Step 1: Download an ornament template such as this.Trace it over watercolor paper.I would suggest anything with a thickness of or above 225 gsm so that it doesn’t buckle.Squeeze our some paint on to a palette.Spritz some water to moisten it.
Step 2: I’ve used a leaf pattern in this tutorial. You can go for any sort of shape or element you like.Load your brush with enough paint and start painting leaves inside the traced ornament.
Continue with the leaves.Fill the entire traced area with it.Wait for it to dry.If you’re in a hurry, use a hair dryer.
Step 3:Cut around the traced area using scissors. You can also use a precision knife for this DIY paper Christmas ornament.
Step 4:Punch a hole on top.
Step 5:Put cotton twine through the hole.Tie two ends of the twine to form the hanging bit.
You’ve just created an extremely easy to do DIY paper christmas ornament.Hang it on your lovely christmas tree.
